Events will take place rain or shine. The Fungus Face Off will be tented with heaters if it rains.

Big Sur Foragers Festival Dates Announced

Foragers Festival Fungus Face Off to be Held at Big Sur River Inn Saturday, January 19th, 2019

The event has traditionally served as a fundraiser for the Big Sur Health Center. The community's non-profit health center will receive the proceeds from the foraging events to continue to support the presence of local health care services in the Big Sur area.

The four-day festival affords Big Sur area restaurants the opportunity to host the culinary expertise of notable chefs who will be preparing unique fare ranging from rustic to elegant, paired alongside the central coast region's amazing selection of wine and beer.

Events will include:

A Thursday Night Fundraiser at Lugano's Swiss Bistro. 

Friday night winemaker's dinners as locations around Monterey County include Il Grillo in Carmel-by-the-Sea

The "Fungus Face-Off" will be held at Big Sur River Inn on Saturday, January 19th, 2019. 

The event will have food tastings, wines, beers, raffles, silent auction and more! This popular event sells out early. 

Saturday Foraging walk led by local experts. "Wild Mushroom Walks and Talk" led by Steve Copeland of Big Sur Guides and his team of expert mushroom foragers.

Sunday we are finalizing several brunch fundraisers around Monterey County.

Ventana Campground BBQ Sunday, January 20, 2018, 11:30am – 2:30pm $35 per person. The event will include barrel of Calicraft Kolsch on ice and ready to pour for the attendees. We are delighted to participate in the Big Sur Forager’s Festival and support our local community with an old-fashioned BBQ in Redwood Canyon. We’re firing up The Beast—our nickname for the smoker—filling it with California live oak and serving up savory deliciousness. The generous plates include Chef Paul’s selection of mouth-watering tri-tip, spare ribs and chicken, grilled fresh vegetables from our organic garden, sweet roll, house-made pickles, and more. While The Beast is making great smokey barbecue, nearby will be our newest addition, the SurStream—a custom-designed mini Airstream—equipped with full bar, local wines and beer.
