What is a walking food tour?

A walking food tour is a great way to visit multiple unique, local eateries to sample restaurant specialties at a leisurely pace, with the convenience of pre-planning and coordination by a local tour guide.


Question 2

How far will we walk and how long are the tours?  

Tours range from 1-2 miles and last approximately 3 hours.


Question 3

Are there hills?  

Most areas are flat, but if there are any areas considered strenuous it will be noted in the description.


Question 4

Will I be full at the end of the tour?  

You should feel like you have eaten a normal sized meal.

ARE TOURS AVAILABLE IN OTHER LANGUAGES?

Interpreters are available upon request in 32 languages at no extra charge with a 2-week notice.


Question 6

Is the tour recommended for children? 

Monterey Bay Food Tours leaves the decision to bring children up to the parents, but no special accommodations are made to include special menus or pricing.  The tour is designed for people who have an appreciation for food.  While we realize that many children may have a more limited palate, there are children who would enjoy the tour.


Question 7

How many restaurants will we visit?  

We generally visit 4-6 restaurants and eateries.


Question 8

Does the tour cover history?   

The tour guide will highlight some historical and interesting facts, but the main focus of the tour is the culinary experience.


Question 9

Should we tip? 

MBFT will cover server tips at all restaurants, but if you enjoy your experience tips are welcome for tour guidesTipping is customary in the United States.  According to Tripadvisor, the tip should be calculated as a percentage of your total bill as follows: 10% usually means you aren’t totally happy, 15% usually means all was acceptable, 20% for excellent service, and over 20% for an outstanding experience.

Are alcoholic beverages included?  

Yes.  Wine, beer or cocktails will be provided at some locations, but water will be available at all stops.  Bottled water is not provided in between stops, so you may choose to bring your own in case you get thirsty.


Question 11

What kind of food will we eat?  

You will sample appetizers, small portion entrees, desserts and beverages from local cuisine to culturally diverse plates.


What is your payment/refund policy?

No refunds will be issued.  Re-scheduling may be accommodated on a case by case basis.  Full-priced tickets must be purchased in advanced for all those 4 and older attending even if they will not be tasting.  Participants under 4 may attend, but will not receive food tastings unless a ticket is purchased.
